_ensemble39 (b.
2010, Philadelphia) is not
your grandparents’ idea of chamber music. Our mishmash of eight
winds and
strings came together from a performance of Prokofiev’s Quintet, Op. 39.
We seek
to bring you, our listeners, into our crazy world with musical
experiences that
excite you in the very same ways that music moves us.
At our core, ensemble39 is a band of music lovers and burrito enthusiasts whose accolades include major prizes in the Tchaikovsky and Primrose International Competitions; performances at the festivals of Marlboro, Music from Angel Fire, Taos, Verbier, Music@Menlo, Chamber Music Northwest, Ravinia, Sarasota, and Perlman Chamber Music Workshop; and performances with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, and Cleveland Orchestra. Our inaugural 2011-12 season brought ensemble39 to Bryn Mawr College’s “Learning to Listen” Series, Next Generation Pop-Up! Concerts at Columbia University’s Miller Theater, Downstairs Live at World Café Live in Philadelphia, and a collaboration with Project 440 to bring educational programs to youth in Savannah, Georgia. We really love what we do, and more than anything, we’d love to share our music with you. Join us for our next concert, and let’s go for burritos after!
